SYSPRO Process Modelling (SPM)
The SPM module allows businesses to define and implement better ways of running their business.
A business that has identified a need to revamp its systems and/or procedures will find that this module has two major advantages, mainly:
-
It provides an entire set of reference information covering most of the activities undertaken by a business, which can be built on or changed to match the needs of a given organisation
-
It provides a rigorous framework in which to design / configure SYSPRO to support the company’s system.
The result is that the risk of problems or failure after implementation is significantly reduced and the level of success with implementing and / or running SYSPRO thereafter is improved.
How SPM works
The SPM module creates many process flow charts over multiple levels of detail to represent two views:
-
A set of generic BUSINESS related processes (ie ones which cover all activities or steps required to run one or more areas of a business, including some manual ones).
-
A set of processes which purely represent the SYSPRO software (ie limited to SYSPRO program steps).
Using the generic business model as a starting point, the model data can be built using a very comprehensive software modelling tool called “Enterprise Architect”.
The ability to model the ideal business and then implement the system to reflect this as closely as possible, adds tremendous value to companies using SYSPRO if it is applied the right way.
Below is an example of one of the business related process charts, in this case, the processes related to purchase orders:
